To sell or not to sell in December. I hear this question every year, and while I have advised clients  to wait to list in January, I have also sold houses in December. We saw a surge in the housing market in October, and it appears that Buyers have regained confidence in the home prices in Houston, while interest rates remain low.

A recent article in the Houston Chronicle stated that home prices dropped 10% in Houston, bringing them back to a more normal level  of appreciation. I believe that Buyers have been waiting for a Buyer’s Market to start buying again, and we are heading in that direction.

If I saw activity slowing down right now, I might advise to wait to list your home in January, but with threats that interest rates will rise again, December may be a better time to sell than the Spring.

Pricing your home moderately is imperative in this market! Talk to a real estate profesional at Energy Realty about what they feel a realistic  price is for your home, and make sure your home is staged and photographed by a professional.  This market will require a little more effort to sell homes, and our agents are prepared to do what  it takes!

Whether you choose to buy or sell a house or not, we are here to assist you. We wish all of you a joyous holiday season and a Happy New Year!
